A specialized wild cat conservation park in the Sierra Nevada foothills, with a quarter-mile walking trail through naturalistic habitats where visitors encounter rare cat species and learn about their ecology and conservation.
Project Survival’s Cat Haven is a specialized wild cat park set on 93 acres in the Sierra Nevada foothills west of Kings Canyon National Park. The facility focuses exclusively on wild cats, with guided visits introducing visitors to species that include cheetahs, jaguars, clouded leopards, snow leopards, servals, lynx, lions, tigers, and other small and large cats. Its enclosures are spaced along a wooded pathway beneath oak and manzanita trees, with granite boulders, ponds, and waterfalls incorporated into the landscape.
The standard visit follows a quarter-mile trail and provides opportunities to learn about individual species, their natural history, and the conservation challenges facing wild cats. Cat Haven also offers educational programs and specialized guided experiences that provide additional insight into animal care and conservation work. Project Survival describes the park as a base for promoting wild cat preservation in native habitats through education and support for conservation efforts in range countries. The destination suits travelers with a particular interest in felines and wildlife conservation who prefer a focused, guided experience over a broad zoo collection.
