Space Farms: Zoo & Museum

Space Farms Zoo & Museum combines a wildlife park with an unusually extensive collection of American historical artifacts. The zoo occupies a large rural property in Sussex County and houses more than 500 animals representing over 100 species. Its collection ranges from lions, tigers, bears, leopards, and jaguars to deer, buffalo, kangaroos, monkeys, farm animals, and reptiles. The family-run attraction traces its origins to 1927, when a local wildlife collection began growing alongside the family business.

The museum side of the destination is a major part of the visit, with multiple buildings devoted to American history and material culture. Collections include more than 50 antique cars and motorcycles, horse-drawn vehicles, farm machinery, dolls, tools, Native American artifacts, and other historical objects. Visitors can move between animal exhibits and museum buildings rather than spending the entire visit in a conventional zoo setting. Space Farms particularly suits travelers who enjoy combining wildlife viewing with Americana, transportation history, and eclectic museum collections.
