A family-owned zoo in East Tennessee featuring rare and endangered species alongside exotic mammals, birds, and reptiles, with animal feedings, keeper talks, a walk-through aviary, and other interactive experiences.
Brights Zoo is a family-owned wildlife facility in the hills of East Tennessee, with a collection that includes several rare and endangered species alongside a broad mix of exotic animals. Addax, bongo, scimitar-horned oryx, and Bactrian camels are among its notable species, while red kangaroos, spider monkeys, pandas, zebras, giraffes, and other mammals add variety to the collection. The zoo also has dedicated bird and reptile areas, including a penguin exhibit and a South America building.
The visit combines traditional animal viewing with several participatory activities. Guests can feed giraffes, goats, and budgerigars at designated times, while keeper talks provide additional opportunities to learn about the animals. A train ride offers another way to explore the zoo, and the property also includes a walk-through budgie feeding area, a penguin encounter, and gem and fossil mining activities. Brights Zoo is particularly suited to travelers who enjoy a relatively hands-on zoo experience and want to encounter less commonly seen hoofstock alongside familiar exotic species.
