Zoo Idaho

Zoo Idaho is a 25-acre zoo dedicated to wildlife of the Intermountain West, with a collection centered on animals native to Idaho and surrounding regions. Its mission combines conservation and education with rehabilitation of wildlife that cannot return to the wild. The zoo has 30 exhibits and 98 animals, creating a relatively focused experience built around regional species rather than a broad international collection. Its partnership with Idaho Fish and Game further connects the zoo to wildlife management and conservation efforts in the state.

The exhibits include bears and bison, birds of prey, deer, elk and pronghorn, wild cats, wild dogs, reptiles, and other small mammals. The grizzly bear habitat is a major feature, giving visitors views of two grizzlies in a half-acre setting of trees, grass, and lava boulders against the Portneuf Gap and Scout Mountain. Daily educational programs can include keeper chats, live feeding presentations, story time, and discovery stations. Zoo Idaho is particularly suited to travelers interested in native western wildlife, rehabilitation, and learning about species associated with Idaho's landscapes.
