Lewisburg, OH
A nonprofit farm, zoo, and arboretum where hands-on animal encounters connect livestock, native wildlife, and exotic species with lessons about conservation, agriculture, land stewardship, and the relationships between people and wildlife.
Wild Hearts African Farm is a nonprofit zoo and working farm in Lewisburg, Ohio, built around the connections between wildlife conservation, agriculture, and land stewardship. The farm is home to more than 85 animals representing over 35 species, ranging from livestock and native wildlife to exotic species. Its arboretum adds another dimension to the property, using native trees and woody plants as part of a broader approach to environmental education.
The visitor experience centers on hands-on learning and guided animal encounters. The Education Center includes an indoor area with reptiles, birds, and small mammals, while the EcoDome houses species including a sand cat, capybara, porcupine, and hornbill. Outdoor areas provide space for additional animals, and guided Wildlife Grove hikes introduce visitors to rescued native wildlife such as bald eagles, hawks, and a turkey vulture. Guests may also be able to touch selected animals, depending on the species and guidance from staff. Wild Hearts suits travelers interested in interactive wildlife experiences that place animal care within a working farm and conservation setting.
