Wild Acres Hands-on Animal Experience

Wild Acres Hands-on Animal Experience is an animal-focused destination in southern Mississippi built around direct encounters rather than conventional zoo-style viewing. Its public programs are organized as guided animal encounter tours, with staff leading visitors through experiences designed to encourage interaction with the animals and provide context about the natural world. The destination also offers private encounters for visitors seeking a more personalized format.

Animal experiences vary across the program, with offerings that have included encounters involving foxes, baby animals, otters, sloths, and other wildlife. Educational activities extend beyond individual encounters, including homeschool programs and a safari camp that combines zoology, botany, herping, and hands-on animal interaction. The result is a visit structured around participation and guided learning rather than a self-guided collection of exhibits. Wild Acres is particularly suited to travelers looking for close, supervised animal encounters and an educational approach that makes wildlife interaction the central part of the experience.
