Snake Discovery: A Reptile Experience

Snake Discovery is a specialized reptile zoo in Maplewood, Minnesota, built around hands-on education and close observation of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. The indoor facility features more than 75 exhibits, creating a focused experience rather than a broad collection of unrelated wildlife. Its educational approach encourages visitors to explore the animals actively, with zookeeper-led tours providing additional interpretation and opportunities to interact with selected species.

The exhibits include snakes, lizards, turtles, an alligator, amphibians, and invertebrates, along with features designed to make the collection more interactive. Visitors can crawl through an alligator tunnel, touch a snake, and use flashlights to search for animals in the Invert Cave. A zoo scavenger hunt adds another way to explore the exhibits independently. The facility also offers educational reptile programs and supports an adoption program for reptiles and amphibians in need. Snake Discovery particularly suits travelers looking for a dedicated reptile experience with hands-on elements and educational programming rather than a conventional zoo with a small reptile section.
