Folsom, LA
A 900-acre free-roaming wildlife preserve where guided safari wagons bring visitors close to giraffes, bison, zebras, camels, and other exotic animals, with opportunities to feed animals and explore private tour options.
Global Wildlife Center is a 900-acre free-roaming wildlife preserve in Folsom, Louisiana, designed around guided safari experiences rather than traditional enclosed zoo exhibits. The preserve is home to more than 2,000 exotic, endangered, and threatened animals from around the world, with open countryside and ponds forming the setting for wildlife encounters. The large scale allows animals to roam across expansive areas while visitors explore by guided vehicle.
The main safari experience takes place aboard a canopy-covered wagon, where guests can feed animals while guides introduce the different species and discuss their characteristics. Free-roaming animals encountered on safari include giraffes, bison, zebras, camels, and elands. Private tours use Pinzgauer vehicles for a more customized exploration, while additional encounters provide closer access to selected animals such as capybaras and red kangaroos. Global Wildlife Center also supports educational programs focused on wildlife conservation. Its open-range layout and emphasis on feeding and direct observation make it particularly suited to travelers looking for an interactive safari experience rather than a conventional zoo visit.
