A small, appointment-based wildlife education facility specializing in North American predators, with wolves, a black bear, tiger, and lynx supported through educational presentations and long-term care.
Big Run Wolf Ranch is a nonprofit, federally licensed educational facility specializing in the education and conservation of North American wildlife. The ranch has operated as an educational facility for decades, with many of its animals arriving through rescue situations in which they could not safely return to the wild. Its primary purpose is conservation through education, giving the property a focused sanctuary and teaching character rather than the broad collection of a conventional zoo.
The resident animals include several North American wolves, a black bear, an Amur tiger, a Canadian lynx, a porcupine, and smaller domestic animals. Public access is offered through scheduled visits, open houses, and private educational presentations, with programs used by schools, scout groups, photography clubs, and other organizations. Visitors should expect a relatively small, specialized setting where the animals and the educational mission are the central focus. The experience is particularly suited to travelers interested in wolves, large predators, wildlife rescue, and learning about individual animals in a more intimate setting.
