Ochopee, FL
A wildlife sanctuary and alligator park in the Everglades where visitors can see rescued reptiles and mammals, watch live alligator demonstrations, and take part in supervised encounters with young alligators.
Wooten's Animal Sanctuary & Alligator Park combines a rescued wildlife collection with live alligator demonstrations in an Everglades setting. The sanctuary is home to more than 100 alligators along with crocodiles, tigers, turtles, otters, and other rescued animals. Some residents were raised in captivity by previous caretakers and cannot survive if released into the wild, making the facility's role centered on providing appropriate care while introducing visitors to these animals.
The sanctuary experience includes viewing the resident animals and attending a live alligator show led by experienced handlers. Demonstrations focus on alligator behavior, physical characteristics, and other facts about the species, followed by a supervised opportunity to hold a baby alligator. The sanctuary is also included with Wooten's airboat and swamp buggy tours, allowing visitors to combine the animal exhibits with excursions through the surrounding Everglades landscape. The destination suits travelers interested in Florida wildlife who want to pair natural-area exploration with a dedicated opportunity to see rescued animals and learn about alligators through demonstrations.
